Revitalizing Carl Junction with a new community center.
Location: Carl Junction, MO
In part of the revitalization of Main Street and downtown, the City of Carl Junction opted to build the 23,000 square foot facility in an area that had been devastated by a tornado in previous years. The community center houses many services that allow for overlap of spatial use and efficiencies in programs. The building is structural steel frame and precast concrete panel with varying exterior materials and features a ground-source heat pump system and other energy efficient fixtures and construction methods.
The project was a recipient of the 2012 American Institute of Architects Public Recognition Award.
