Revitalizing Carl Junction with a new community center.

Location: Carl Junction, MO

In part of the revitalization of Main Street and downtown, the City of Carl Junction opted to build the 23,000 square-foot facility in an area that had been devastated by a tornado in previous years. The community center houses many services that allow for overlap of spatial use and efficiencies in programs. The building has a structural steel frame and precast concrete panel with varying exterior materials, and features a ground-source heat pump system and other energy-efficient fixtures and construction methods. Snyder Construction Group, based near Springfield, Missouri, served as the general contractor on this project.

The project was a recipient of the 2012 American Institute of Architects Public Recognition Award.
